So... I've been on a bit of a Hades kick lately. (Yes, I mean the Disney version.)
When I was looking at fanart of him, I also came across some different versions of Persephone, and I was inspired to design my own version.
So, I get done designing her and I think, "Technically the stories about the greek gods ARE in the public domain. Why not design my own version of Hades while I'm at it and retell their story?"
So, I have. ^^
They are going to be featured as a supporting characters and have their own side plot in Boneyard.
My version is mostly the same as the original myth except a few key points.
1) They meet several different times and eventually fall in love. Hades then goes to her dad, Zeus (just so we're all clear on something, they're not related by blood in this version) and asks for her to become his bride.
2) When Demeter demands that Persephone be returned, she actually eats the food of the Underworld knowing she'll have to stay. (I don't feel too weird about changing that since some different versions of the myth say that they did fall in love and she knew about the food of the Underworld.)
Any way, about the designs. I kept seeing flowers in Seph's hair in alot of the different versions and I got sick of it. Plus I see butterflies as a symbol of springtime and I thought they suited her.
I made Hades' cape purple since it's a color representing royalty (he IS the King of the Underworld, after all) and I made his hair white becuase I learned that in many cultures white is actually the color of death. Those dots on his eyes are actually scars. (His eyes and lips got sewn shut at one point. I'll explain more later.)

p.s. If anyone has or knows a good tutorial on how to shade white hair, by all means drop me a note please! (there's a free request involved if you do) ^^
